My husband and I met in Niger State in 2009. He graduated from Delta State University, Abraka, and arrived at camp early. I graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Unlike him, I got camp late in the afternoon and wasn’t able to complete my registration that day but secured hostel accommodation that night. How I 'dramatically' met my wife in NYSC Sokoto

It all started on Wednesday, 2nd February 2022. I was posted to Sokoto for NYSC camp, but I had planned to be a “ghost Corper” since I lived in Kebbi, just two hours away. My plan was to only show up for clearances and return home. I was posted to Shehu Shagari College of Education (SSCOE), Sokoto, for my PPA with my friend Firdausi. After documentation, we were to choose a CDS group. Firdausi picked Freedom of Information Vanguard (FOIV) because it was close to the Corper’s lodge and advised me to do the same, so I did. I still wanted to relocate to Kebbi, but Firdausi encouraged me to attend CDS at least a few times to know how things worked. One Wednesday, we trekked to the CDS venue at Bado Quarters. We met precisely in 2019 during the INEC training for corps members towards the 2019 Elections at Government Secondary School Apata, Ibadan. I noticed her from a distance however I couldn’t summon the courage to speak with her but with the help of one of my friends who was also serving at that time I was able to speak with her. She was a bit reserved but she communicated well with my friends and I. We had our first outing on February 14, 2019. The ride wasn’t a very smooth one but we became friends and gradually we got closer and we became lovers. The success of our relationship can be traced to many things. First, although we are both Yorubas - she (Kwara State) while I am from Ekiti - after our service year, we both reside and work in Ilorin - which made the relationship smoother.
