How we found love in Zamfara

I was sad that I won't be able to travel home after camp because we needed to do November clearance. As I was walking reluctantly into the lodge with my bags, a guy named Afeez walked up to me and said he knew me somewhere (that was the toasting line back then. "I know you somewhere" "your face looks familiar" etc).

I immediately rebuffed him. Like you don't know what's going on in my head. He felt bad and other corps members said I embarrassed him by not listening to him. Later that day, he came back to explain. He actually knew me from TASUED. He was a year ahead.

While waiting for clearance, Afeez fed me for 2 weeks. We move around together and Ola (his friend and roommate) was mad at him that he shouldn't be friends with a proud girl who embarrassed him publicly. But Afeez never took offense.

Afeez's PPA was in the village, so after clearance, he had to return to the village leaving me with his friend, Ola. He connected us, because Ola never liked me.

The dust settled after clearance. Ola got to know I was a wonderful person - different from the first impression he had of me. We became closer and started dating. We lived in the Corpers lodge and everyday in Zamfara felt like home with Ola.

The lodge had strict rules e.g. no lady should be in the guys side later than 10pm and we weren't allowed to go there earlier than 6am too but we all broke the rule cos the guys have TV.

We got into trouble one day when a guy snitched on us & reported us to the LGI. LGI threatened to report us to Sharia police or repost my husband to a very far village but despite the threats, our love continued to thrive.

Ola visited my parents in February 2011 after leaving the North while I was still in Zamfara (he was Batch A while I was Batch C). I also visited him while in service and after my POP. He got a job in Sagamu in 2012, the same town my family lives. This made us closer.

A year after he got the job, he got his visa and relocated to USA. Before he left, we had introduction then came back in 2015 for our wedding and I joined him 2016.

Today we are blessed with 2 adorable boys and we live together in Minnesota, USA.

Long live NYSC 😍

The beautiful NYSC love story of Mr and Mrs Enujeke 😍😍😍

My husband and I met in Niger State in 2009. He graduated from Delta State University, Abraka, and arrived at camp early. I graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Unlike him, I got camp late in the afternoon and wasn’t able to complete my registration that day but secured hostel accommodation that night. The next day, after morning drills, I finished my registration where we first met. He was among the corps members assisting the new arrivals. We discovered we were in the same platoon— the great Platoon 8 😃 —and from the same state, Delta State. However, I was born and raised in the north, while he had lived all his life in the south. We would walk together to morning drills and head to Mami Market with friends before resting at the hostel. What began as friendship during camp grew into feelings over the three weeks of orientation. When PPA postings were announced, he was assigned to COE in Minna, while I was posted to Bosso LG Secretariat. Despite being in different LGAs...

We met in NYSC and our fathers were friends from wayback 💖🇳🇬😍

We met precisely in 2019 during the INEC training for corps members towards the 2019 Elections at Government Secondary School Apata, Ibadan. I noticed her from a distance however I couldn’t summon the courage to speak with her but with the help of one of my friends who was also serving at that time I was able to speak with her.  She was a bit reserved but she communicated well with my friends and I. We had our first outing on February 14, 2019. The ride wasn’t a very smooth one but we became friends and gradually we got closer and we became lovers.  The success of our relationship can be traced to many things. First, although we are both Yorubas - she (Kwara State) while I am from Ekiti - after our service year, we both reside and work in Ilorin - which made the relationship smoother. Another factor which made me conclude that God's hand was indeed in our relationship was that we found out that my father and her father knew each other from way back. This made our union...

We met in NYSC, separated but came back together 😍🤣💍🇳🇬

Femi and I struck a friendship during our NYSC orientation exercise in 2013. Even though there was always an initial attraction; we were both committed to other things and people and we left it as a good friendship. However, we kept in touch and in 2014, while Femi was away furthering his studies, we got closer and spoke every day. At this point, we were both single and decided to commit to each other. Our friends and family became well acquainted with each other and it felt like a fairy tale. Sadly, we parted ways a few years later. We were quite young and there were a lot of sacrifices we both weren’t willing to make then. However, the love and friendship we had never wavered; and our families always kept in touch and believed that God would guide us back to each other. We started dating other people so we barely communicated due to the respect we owed our previous relationships. My relationship at the time ended terribly and surprisingly, Femi who hadn’t spoken to me in over a...
