How we met at the camp clinic in Edo state



Although we were in the same platoon and medical team in camp, Temitope and I didn't meet immediately. We occasionally saw each other until one day I needed to see a friend inside the building where the doctors were - beside the building where we Biomedical Scientists stayed. 

He was standing at the entrance and I greeted him. He asked "you're in platoon 9"? I said yes. He said he has never seen me and that's how we started talking.

We went for Miss NYSC and I sat beside him. He came with another lady but came to me and we got talking and it was that day we exchanged numbers. When I got to the hostel he called and asked if I'm in the hostel, if I'm not tired etc and I was like "why is he all nice"🙄? 

We left camp a day or two after. He came and told me make sure I stay in touch. That morning, I went to Mammy with my friend, he held my hands acting "lovey" and said that he'll miss me. I kept wondering what's wrong with this guy. After that, we were about to leave, he came again telling my friend to take good care of me and I should keep in touch.

On getting to our PPA, we didn't like the place - it was a record office. It wasn't even in good shape and we had to talk to one of the officers in camp who helped with the reposting to UBTH, Benin. I stayed with a friend while trying to settle down. He kept calling till the reposting worked.

After settling down, I asked him why he has been nice to me when he has a gf. He said he just wants us to be friends. Then he started asking personal questions 'beyond friendship'. He then asked me out. He revealed that he had an issue with his girl and they broke up while we were in camp.

So we started but I didn't know it would be a serious thing because his camp friends were guys that girls tagged "bad guys".

We courted for 4 years. When we started newly, he tells me affirmatively that he knows that we will get married. He proposed Sunday, 4th October 2020 & we got married Thursday 15th July 2021. We are happily married and now live in the UK.

Long live NYSC Edo State!

  It all started on Wednesday, 2nd February 2022. I was posted to Sokoto for NYSC camp, but I had planned to be a “ghost Corper” since I lived in Kebbi, just two hours away. How we found love in NYSC Benue - Rafiah and Yusuff

Ride with me back to January 2017, NYSC called and we were posted to Benue. A few days after camp started, a friend who had met us individually said to Sodiq he found a lady from Ibadan who could be his match for ‘bad mouth’ and he asked to meet. Thankfully, we were in same Platoon 10 so it was easier for him to introduce us. Some bants here and there, well you should know who won. Fast forward to January 31, 2017, we happened to sit next to each other during SAED class and his phone gallery scroll revealed we have a mutual friend and that kicked off endless hours of talks and bants. While people were running away from SAED, we turned it to our rendezvous to nurture our friendship. Unfortunately, Sodiq got posted to Vandeikya LG while I got posted to Apa LG. How a random photograph brought us together

  My wife and I met in the most unplanned and unconscious way during our NYSC orientation camp at Ede in Osun State, Batch B, Stream 1, in 2017. She was in Platoon 3 while I was in Platoon 4. We didn’t know each other then.  Our first encounter was during the man o' war drill. I had asked my camp photographer to capture random moments, and by chance, he took a picture that had both of us. Funny enough, I didn’t know her name. Life has its way of working things out. After camp, we were both posted to the same CDS group—Dance and Drama in Osogbo, Osun State. The first day I saw her there, I immediately recognized her from the photo. I wanted to tell her, but I was afraid of embarrassing myself.  She looked so sophisticated, especially knowing she was a foreign student from Houdegbe North American University, Benin Republic, where she studied Accounting.
