How we met at the camp clinic in Edo state

Although we were in the same platoon and medical team in camp, Temitope and I didn't meet immediately. We occasionally saw each other until one day I needed to see a friend inside the building where the doctors were - beside the building where we Biomedical Scientists stayed.

He was standing at the entrance and I greeted him. He asked "you're in platoon 9"? I said yes. He said he has never seen me and that's how we started talking.

We went for Miss NYSC and I sat beside him. He came with another lady but came to me and we got talking and it was that day we exchanged numbers. When I got to the hostel he called and asked if I'm in the hostel, if I'm not tired etc and I was like "why is he all nice"🙄?

We left camp a day or two after. He came and told me make sure I stay in touch. That morning, I went to Mammy with my friend, he held my hands acting "lovey" and said that he'll miss me. I kept wondering what's wrong with this guy. After that, we were about to leave, he came again telling my friend to take good care of me and I should keep in touch.

On getting to our PPA, we didn't like the place - it was a record office. It wasn't even in good shape and we had to talk to one of the officers in camp who helped with the reposting to UBTH, Benin. I stayed with a friend while trying to settle down. He kept calling till the reposting worked.

After settling down, I asked him why he has been nice to me when he has a gf. He said he just wants us to be friends. Then he started asking personal questions 'beyond friendship'. He then asked me out. He revealed that he had an issue with his girl and they broke up while we were in camp.

So we started but I didn't know it would be a serious thing because his camp friends were guys that girls tagged "bad guys".

We courted for 4 years. When we started newly, he tells me affirmatively that he knows that we will get married. He proposed Sunday, 4th October 2020 & we got married Thursday 15th July 2021. We are happily married and now live in the UK.

My husband and I met in Niger State in 2009. He graduated from Delta State University, Abraka, and arrived at camp early. I graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. We met precisely in 2019 during the INEC training for corps members towards the 2019 Elections at Government Secondary School Apata, Ibadan. I noticed her from a distance however I couldn’t summon the courage to speak with her but with the help of one of my friends who was also serving at that time I was able to speak with her. She was a bit reserved but she communicated well with my friends and I. We had our first outing on February 14, 2019. The ride wasn’t a very smooth one but we became friends and gradually we got closer and we became lovers. The success of our relationship can be traced to many things. First, although we are both Yorubas - she (Kwara State) while I am from Ekiti - after our service year, we both reside and work in Ilorin - which made the relationship smoother. Femi and I struck a friendship during our NYSC orientation exercise in 2013. Even though there was always an initial attraction; we were both committed to other things and people and we left it as a good friendship. However, we kept in touch and in 2014, while Femi was away furthering his studies, we got closer and spoke every day. At this point, we were both single and decided to commit to each other. Our friends and family became well acquainted with each other and it felt like a fairy tale. Sadly, we parted ways a few years later. We were quite young and there were a lot of sacrifices we both weren’t willing to make then.
