How we found love during the COVID pandemic

Tunde and I met at Asaya camp, Kogi State, 2020 Batch A. I had a crush on him (silent one though) on our very first meeting. This was because he has a striking resemblance with an old friend of mine. So out of curiosity, I asked to know if he is related to the said person to which he answered "no". We turned out to be casual friends in camp. COVID-19 hit and we were asked to vacate camp just 11days into our camp and we couldn't finish.

All through this time, I was talking to one of his camp friends, Yinka, whom I had exchanged contact with. I moved on with my life after the aborted camp and days after, Yinka called to check up on me. Days after we reconnected, Yinka mentioned to me that someone was asking for my contact and he was seeking my consent before giving it out. The someone was Tunde. Long story short, we got talking and he asked me out which I declined.

However, one thing struck me about Tunde. Despite turning down his request, he remained cool, calm and collected. He kept the tempo, and continued to call and chat with me while I kept forming "hard girl". I finally said yes to him and we started dating in September 2020 - six months after he first asked me out.

Permit me to state here that I took my time to say yes because I had just got off an abusive relationship and needed time to heal. God compensated my days of pain in the previous relationship with this loving and kindhearted man called Tunde. I couldn't have prayed for a better boo.

Two years after our first "hello", he proposed on the 2nd of May 2022 and our families met recently on the 14th of May, 2022. Date has been fixed and I'm finally going to be walking down the aisle with the bundle of blessing and joy that God gave me during my NYSC.

Long live Nigeria. Long live NYSC.

Congratulations @eddi.e494 and @dlom_collections

How I 'dramatically' met my wife in NYSC Sokoto

It all started on Wednesday, 2nd February 2022. I was posted to Sokoto for NYSC camp, but I had planned to be a “ghost Corper” since I lived in Kebbi, just two hours away. My plan was to only show up for clearances and return home. I was posted to Shehu Shagari College of Education (SSCOE), Sokoto, for my PPA with my friend Firdausi.  After documentation, we were to choose a CDS group. Firdausi picked Freedom of Information Vanguard (FOIV) because it was close to the Corper’s lodge and advised me to do the same, so I did. I still wanted to relocate to Kebbi, but Firdausi encouraged me to attend CDS at least a few times to know how things worked. One Wednesday, we trekked to the CDS venue at Bado Quarters. I arrived late.  As I entered, I saw her—Saudat. A calm, beautiful young lady. I froze thinking, “If she agrees to date me, I’ll marry her after NYSC,” but another thought said, “Forget it, girls this fine here are probably married already.” Throughout the meeting, I k...

The beautiful NYSC love story of Mr and Mrs Enujeke 😍😍😍

My husband and I met in Niger State in 2009. He graduated from Delta State University, Abraka, and arrived at camp early. I graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Unlike him, I got camp late in the afternoon and wasn’t able to complete my registration that day but secured hostel accommodation that night. The next day, after morning drills, I finished my registration where we first met. He was among the corps members assisting the new arrivals. We discovered we were in the same platoon— the great Platoon 8 😃 —and from the same state, Delta State. However, I was born and raised in the north, while he had lived all his life in the south. We would walk together to morning drills and head to Mami Market with friends before resting at the hostel. What began as friendship during camp grew into feelings over the three weeks of orientation. When PPA postings were announced, he was assigned to COE in Minna, while I was posted to Bosso LG Secretariat. Despite being in different LGAs...

How we found love in NYSC Benue - Rafiah and Yusuff

Ride with me back to January 2017, NYSC called and we were posted to Benue. A few days after camp started, a friend who had met us individually said to Sodiq he found a lady from Ibadan who could be his match for ‘bad mouth’ and he asked to meet. Thankfully, we were in same Platoon 10 so it was easier for him to introduce us. Some bants here and there, well you should know who won. Fast forward to January 31, 2017, we happened to sit next to each other during SAED class and his phone gallery scroll revealed we have a mutual friend and that kicked off endless hours of talks and bants. While people were running away from SAED, we turned it to our rendezvous to nurture our friendship. Unfortunately, Sodiq got posted to Vandeikya LG while I got posted to Apa LG. I remember we asked one of the vendors in Maami market how far the two locations are to each other and the guy laughed at us for not sticking to the ‘don’t fall in love in camp’ mantra. Technically, we were just trying to nurture o...
