How we found love far away in Sokoto camp

It all started when Nysc posted me to Sokoto state in the year 2019, Batch B2, of 2019/2020 Batch, just like a man who is always ready, I set off. Before then, people were telling the place is too far, and other security issues, but I was determined to go.

I was determined that I want to explore their culture, and other experiences. My location then was Benin-city, as I graduated from Ambrose Alli University, while she graduated from UNN, Nsukka. So from Camp, Wamakko camp, after the 3weeks, were sent to our various PPA.

While in camp, others were doing everything possible to serve in "town", but my own was that anywhere they took me to, i am going. So I was now posted to Kalanjeni community in Tangaza LGA, Sokoto state.

Getting to the PPA, I was devastated to be frank as it was a village, but other previous corpers encouraged me. So I stayed!

My would-be wife came in Batch C1. Immediately she came in, instantly we clicked! Infact, she told me how she was never to be brought there, but she doesn't know what God has in stock for her.

So, the rest is history! As if we knew we would end up married. From the outset, we started and asking about each other's genotype, blood group, religion etc

We both had a wonderful year in Sokoto State that we praised God and NYSC for making it possible. Both of us are Igbo and instantly, our parents were notified of our relationship.

NYSC was a blessing for us. Sokoto State was equally a blessing. Cost of living was bearable, cheap foodstuffs, land of adventures enabling us to embark on different sight-seeing expeditions that fostered our love and helped us bond better.

On the 30th of December, 2021, my heartrob and I will be getting the seal of God and the legal rights to call ourselves Husband & Wife.

We welcome everyone in the NYSC family to share in our joy.

Long live NYSC 🇳🇬

Congratulations @augustinechijioke1

The beautiful NYSC love story of Mr and Mrs Enujeke 😍😍😍

My husband and I met in Niger State in 2009. He graduated from Delta State University, Abraka, and arrived at camp early. I graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Unlike him, I got camp late in the afternoon and wasn’t able to complete my registration that day but secured hostel accommodation that night. The next day, after morning drills, I finished my registration where we first met. He was among the corps members assisting the new arrivals. We discovered we were in the same platoon— the great Platoon 8 😃 —and from the same state, Delta State. However, I was born and raised in the north, while he had lived all his life in the south. We would walk together to morning drills and head to Mami Market with friends before resting at the hostel. What began as friendship during camp grew into feelings over the three weeks of orientation. When PPA postings were announced, he was assigned to COE in Minna, while I was posted to Bosso LG Secretariat. Despite being in different LGAs...

How I 'dramatically' met my wife in NYSC Sokoto

It all started on Wednesday, 2nd February 2022. I was posted to Sokoto for NYSC camp, but I had planned to be a “ghost Corper” since I lived in Kebbi, just two hours away. My plan was to only show up for clearances and return home. I was posted to Shehu Shagari College of Education (SSCOE), Sokoto, for my PPA with my friend Firdausi.  After documentation, we were to choose a CDS group. Firdausi picked Freedom of Information Vanguard (FOIV) because it was close to the Corper’s lodge and advised me to do the same, so I did. I still wanted to relocate to Kebbi, but Firdausi encouraged me to attend CDS at least a few times to know how things worked. One Wednesday, we trekked to the CDS venue at Bado Quarters. I arrived late.  As I entered, I saw her—Saudat. A calm, beautiful young lady. I froze thinking, “If she agrees to date me, I’ll marry her after NYSC,” but another thought said, “Forget it, girls this fine here are probably married already.” Throughout the meeting, I k...

We met in NYSC and our fathers were friends from wayback 💖🇳🇬😍

We met precisely in 2019 during the INEC training for corps members towards the 2019 Elections at Government Secondary School Apata, Ibadan. I noticed her from a distance however I couldn’t summon the courage to speak with her but with the help of one of my friends who was also serving at that time I was able to speak with her.  She was a bit reserved but she communicated well with my friends and I. We had our first outing on February 14, 2019. The ride wasn’t a very smooth one but we became friends and gradually we got closer and we became lovers.  The success of our relationship can be traced to many things. First, although we are both Yorubas - she (Kwara State) while I am from Ekiti - after our service year, we both reside and work in Ilorin - which made the relationship smoother. Another factor which made me conclude that God's hand was indeed in our relationship was that we found out that my father and her father knew each other from way back. This made our union...
