How I met my husband in NYSC CDS Group

In 2017, I was posted to Karu, Nasarawa, for my NYSC & like every corps member, I was actively involved in the Community Development Service (CDS). I joined the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) group, where I met Gabriel - my future husband.

He was always there, sitting beside me at every meeting, yet barely speaking. The only interaction we had was when he borrowed my pen to sign the attendance sheet. I noticed his reserved nature but never thought much of it. It was clear he wanted to say something, but shyness always held him back.

The long-awaited moment came in January 2018. After our CDS meeting, we took a subgroup photograph and that was the moment he finally mustered the courage to talk to me beyond just borrowing a pen. He shyly asked if we could be friends and that simple request was the beginning of something special.

We started texting, gradually getting to know each other. What struck me the most was his kindness, humor & the way he genuinely made me happy. He was thoughtful, attentive and effortlessly the perfect fit for me. As time passed, our bond grew stronger & eventually, he officially asked me out.

Our relationship flourished and by the time we completed our NYSC, we were deeply connected. We continued dating, facing life’s ups and downs together. Then came the unexpected challenge—the COVID-19 lockdown. As fate would have it, we ended up living together during that period, and that was when we truly got to know each other.

The lockdown brought challenges, but it also solidified our love. We saw each other at our best & worst, yet every moment spent together only reinforced our decision to be with one another.

On December 11, 2021, we took the next step in our journey & became husband and wife. It was a dream come true, a beautiful day marking the beginning of a lifetime commitment. Today, our love story continues with two handsome sons who bring endless joy to our lives.

Looking back, I smile at the memory of the shy young man who sat beside me every week in CDS meetings but couldn't speak. From borrowing a pen to becoming Mr & Mrs Ugonoh, our journey has been nothing short of magical.

The beautiful NYSC love story of Mr and Mrs Enujeke 😍😍😍

My husband and I met in Niger State in 2009. He graduated from Delta State University, Abraka, and arrived at camp early. I graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Unlike him, I got camp late in the afternoon and wasn’t able to complete my registration that day but secured hostel accommodation that night. The next day, after morning drills, I finished my registration where we first met. He was among the corps members assisting the new arrivals. We discovered we were in the same platoon— the great Platoon 8 😃 —and from the same state, Delta State. However, I was born and raised in the north, while he had lived all his life in the south. We would walk together to morning drills and head to Mami Market with friends before resting at the hostel. What began as friendship during camp grew into feelings over the three weeks of orientation. When PPA postings were announced, he was assigned to COE in Minna, while I was posted to Bosso LG Secretariat. Despite being in different LGAs...

We met in NYSC and our fathers were friends from wayback 💖🇳🇬😍

We met precisely in 2019 during the INEC training for corps members towards the 2019 Elections at Government Secondary School Apata, Ibadan. I noticed her from a distance however I couldn’t summon the courage to speak with her but with the help of one of my friends who was also serving at that time I was able to speak with her.  She was a bit reserved but she communicated well with my friends and I. We had our first outing on February 14, 2019. The ride wasn’t a very smooth one but we became friends and gradually we got closer and we became lovers.  The success of our relationship can be traced to many things. First, although we are both Yorubas - she (Kwara State) while I am from Ekiti - after our service year, we both reside and work in Ilorin - which made the relationship smoother. Another factor which made me conclude that God's hand was indeed in our relationship was that we found out that my father and her father knew each other from way back. This made our union...

We met in NYSC, separated but came back together 😍🤣💍🇳🇬

Femi and I struck a friendship during our NYSC orientation exercise in 2013. Even though there was always an initial attraction; we were both committed to other things and people and we left it as a good friendship. However, we kept in touch and in 2014, while Femi was away furthering his studies, we got closer and spoke every day. At this point, we were both single and decided to commit to each other. Our friends and family became well acquainted with each other and it felt like a fairy tale. Sadly, we parted ways a few years later. We were quite young and there were a lot of sacrifices we both weren’t willing to make then. However, the love and friendship we had never wavered; and our families always kept in touch and believed that God would guide us back to each other. We started dating other people so we barely communicated due to the respect we owed our previous relationships. My relationship at the time ended terribly and surprisingly, Femi who hadn’t spoken to me in over a...
