How we met in NYSC Ekiti - Mr & Mrs Ebi

The NYSC year of 2022 took an unexpected but beautiful turn right after orientation camp at Ise-Emure, Ekiti State. After camp, I relocated to my home state, Delta.

Like many other corpers trying to find their feet, I joined a WhatsApp group created for corpers serving in Delta State. I remember feeling curious and a little nervous, so I asked in the group chat if there were other corpers posted to my local government area.

A fellow corps member responded to my message. He had already been serving - he was from Batch B, Stream 1, while I was Batch B, Stream 2. That was our very first interaction. It seemed simple at the time, but little did I know it was the beginning of something truly life-changing.

Four months into our friendship, on December 28, 2022 to be precise - he officially asked me to be his girlfriend. I didn’t need to think twice; I said yes immediately. From that moment on, our connection only grew stronger.

Throughout 2023, we dated with intention, learned about each other, built a solid friendship, and created memories that still make us smile. Then, on February 11, 2024, he got down on one knee and proposed.

Of course, I said yes again! And now, I’m so proud to say that he is my husband. We tied the knot on June 8, 2024, and began this exciting new chapter together.

NYSC truly gave me more than just an opportunity to serve my country — it gave me my soulmate. What was supposed to be just a year of national service turned into the beginning of a lifetime of love. It’s amazing to think about how something as simple as a group chat message could lead to such a beautiful bond. That's how NYSC, a time of service, blossomed into a season of love.

Today makes it exactly one year that we both said "yes I do" in the presence of God, family and friends. It’s been a smooth sail, filled with joy, understanding, and partnership.

We’re both proudly from Delta State. I studied Microbiology at Delta State University, Abraka, and he studied Computer Engineering at Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara.

NYSC will forever be special to us. Long live NYSC, and long live Nigeria!

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Ebi 💍👏💕😍

How I 'dramatically' met my wife in NYSC Sokoto

It all started on Wednesday, 2nd February 2022. I was posted to Sokoto for NYSC camp, but I had planned to be a “ghost Corper” since I lived in Kebbi, just two hours away. My plan was to only show up for clearances and return home. I was posted to Shehu Shagari College of Education (SSCOE), Sokoto, for my PPA with my friend Firdausi.  After documentation, we were to choose a CDS group. Firdausi picked Freedom of Information Vanguard (FOIV) because it was close to the Corper’s lodge and advised me to do the same, so I did. I still wanted to relocate to Kebbi, but Firdausi encouraged me to attend CDS at least a few times to know how things worked. One Wednesday, we trekked to the CDS venue at Bado Quarters. I arrived late.  As I entered, I saw her—Saudat. A calm, beautiful young lady. I froze thinking, “If she agrees to date me, I’ll marry her after NYSC,” but another thought said, “Forget it, girls this fine here are probably married already.” Throughout the meeting, I k...

The beautiful NYSC love story of Mr and Mrs Enujeke 😍😍😍

My husband and I met in Niger State in 2009. He graduated from Delta State University, Abraka, and arrived at camp early. I graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Unlike him, I got camp late in the afternoon and wasn’t able to complete my registration that day but secured hostel accommodation that night. The next day, after morning drills, I finished my registration where we first met. He was among the corps members assisting the new arrivals. We discovered we were in the same platoon— the great Platoon 8 😃 —and from the same state, Delta State. However, I was born and raised in the north, while he had lived all his life in the south. We would walk together to morning drills and head to Mami Market with friends before resting at the hostel. What began as friendship during camp grew into feelings over the three weeks of orientation. When PPA postings were announced, he was assigned to COE in Minna, while I was posted to Bosso LG Secretariat. Despite being in different LGAs...

How we found love in NYSC Benue - Rafiah and Yusuff

Ride with me back to January 2017, NYSC called and we were posted to Benue. A few days after camp started, a friend who had met us individually said to Sodiq he found a lady from Ibadan who could be his match for ‘bad mouth’ and he asked to meet. Thankfully, we were in same Platoon 10 so it was easier for him to introduce us. Some bants here and there, well you should know who won. Fast forward to January 31, 2017, we happened to sit next to each other during SAED class and his phone gallery scroll revealed we have a mutual friend and that kicked off endless hours of talks and bants. While people were running away from SAED, we turned it to our rendezvous to nurture our friendship. Unfortunately, Sodiq got posted to Vandeikya LG while I got posted to Apa LG. I remember we asked one of the vendors in Maami market how far the two locations are to each other and the guy laughed at us for not sticking to the ‘don’t fall in love in camp’ mantra. Technically, we were just trying to nurture o...
